“Pushing the Book to Assemble Meaning: Exploring the Boundaries of Form and Function,” a cross-disciplinary artist’s book assemblage piece constructed as part of Hannah LeGris’ Senior Independent Study Project is currently on display in Special Collections, The College of Wooster Libraries. This interactive piece encourages readers to become involved in the narrative process by handling the various parts of this collection of stories. The artist challenges the reader to rethink the traditional notion of the book as object by transforming found objects into part of the reader’s experience.
Hannah’s project will be on display in conjunction with a Special Collections exhibit highlighting the careers of book arts revolutionaries Elbert Hubbard and Dard Hunter.
The exhibit is available for viewing Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., April 7 - April 25, 2008. For more information please contact Denise Monbarren (ext. 2527) or Hannah LeGris (hlegris08@wooster.edu).

The Chronicle of Higher Education’s Wired Campus blog has an entry discussing the impact of the continuing price increase of journals for academic libraries. It refers to an article in the Louisville Courier-Journal describing the situations at the University of Louisville and the University of Kentucky.

There’s a new search engine that you might want to try called Accoona. If you search on a location (like Wooster, Ohio) it will provide you a link to basic information about the location. After you do a news search you have pull-down menu options that allow you to further limit your results. It is an interesting new tool, try it out.
